Welcome!

Welcome to my new website! If you are here, at this point, it is most likely that you know me. You may be one of my siblings, my parents, my in-laws, my cousins, my aunts or uncles, a college friend or former parent of my students. Whatever the reason, I’m glad you are here! Thank you for taking the time to explore my website.

This website began as a thought over three years ago, sitting at the kitchen table with my cousins Mike and Bethany Hanel. We were having one of our monthly get-togethers in Milford, Ohio, when the talk turned to frugal finds and bargain shopping. We shared and talked and laughed, when Mike told me that he could only aspire to be as frugal as me. Remember, you two? Bethany told me that I should think about starting a website on just these topics. While I had thought of it before, this was the first time the thought took root. Now, fast forward three years.

I’m married. That’s the biggest change in my life that brought about the other changes. I have a new teaching job at a new church and a new school. We (my husband and I) bought a house in a new city in a new state. A lot of things have changed, but I’m still frugal as ever. These days, it is my husband, Andy, who gets to sit at the kitchen table and hear of my bargains. He is always glad to hear of my hobby that saves us money! After many discussions and thoughtful prayers, Andy also encouraged me to share my tricks of the trade with others via a website. To quote from Esther, “For such a time as this…” This is my time to share how I am learning to joyfully thrive.

I am not, by any means, an expert on any one topic. I am a person who loves to learn and loves to teach. What I have learned comes from many different people (Thanks, Mom!) and many different sources, including books, websites and life experiences. My idea is to compile all of this in one place for you to learn with me. I’d love to encourage others to live joyfully with me!

This website is different from others because I am a Lutheran school teacher. Not only that, but I am a Lutheran PK (Pastor’s Kid). My life is frugal because that is how I was raised. We didn’t always have lots but we always had enough. I have seen first hand evidence, time and time again, of how God provides for His children. Since this is who I am, this belief will underlie all that I write and share on this website. It is intended to be a joyful and encouraging place for us to share our life’s journeys.

You may be wondering what you will find on this website. You will find ways to live frugally, including yes, using coupons. You will find articles about bargain shopping  and creating a stockpile to share with others. You will find book reviews to encourage you, my perspective on what it means to be a Lutheran,  and simply my day in and day out musings. Some of the first articles coming are things to help you begin saving and / or earning a bit of extra money right away. Please come back on a regular, if not daily, basis to see what I’ve found to share!

Once again, thank you for coming to explore my website. I look forward to sharing with you and hope that you will enjoy sharing with me. May our Lord grant you joy, this day and always!

    1. Thanks, Anna! I always remember that a penny saved is more than a penny earned…due to interest and all. Swagbucks is one of my new favorite discoveries this year. Have fun saving!
