This weekend, my husband and I traveled to celebrate two grandparent birthdays. We stopped to see grandparents in Fort Wayne before driving to Indianapolis to see grandparents there. My grandparents live further away in Ohio and Kansas, so it’s nice to have two sets close in Indiana.
My husband and I are blessed to have all of our grandparents still living. All eight of them are still married (for 50 plus years each) and in love with their spouses. Andy and I are blessed to have their examples to emulate! Here is a picture that I cherish from our wedding. Here we all are together to celebrate – the Lehenbauers, Schifflis, Whirretts, Barzes and Whirretts.
There is much about my – our – grandparents that inspires my thankfulness to God. I am thankful for…
…Christian grandparents who set an example in life, love and purity.
…grandparents who pray for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
…grandparents who tell stories of their growing up days.
…grandparents who are always glad to see their grandchildren.
…Grandmas who sew quilts and write letters and bake homemade bread.
…Grandpas who know about cars and sing old jingles.
…Grandmas who take the time to sit and talk.
…Grandpas who are always ready to work.
…grandparents who raised their children to know and serve the Lord – so their children could and would do the same with their children.
…all the countless, precious memories that I have of our grandparents.
Thank you, Lord, for the precious blessing of grandparents!
