It’s been a busy week – even for me! I don’t have any Saturday Stumbles to share since I haven’t been online much, so thought I’d share what I’ve been up to this week.
Somehow, I ended up being in charge of this week with my friend and fellow teacher, Tonya. If I may say so myself, I thought we did a lovely job! We were responsible for all the Lutheran Schools Week activities as well as Grandparents Day on Wednesday. As if that wasn’t busy enough, my class was the one to host the soup supper on Ash Wednesday so I had to coordinate that.
Monday was patriotic day. It was a good start to our Lutheran Schools Week.
Tuesday found me dressing up with my kids for occupation day. What do I want to be when I grow up? At this point in my life, after teaching for seven years already, I’m hoping I can be a Mom when I grow up! My costume was made complete with apron, dish towel and baby doll.
Wednesday morning was Grandparents Day. We had a full classroom! I’m glad the grandparents came. I enjoyed having them there. They seemed to enjoy playing Skunk (our multiplication game) with us as well as listening to us sing our catechism songs. Sing the Faith is a great cd, by the way!
Wednesday night was our soup supper at church. I cooked a double batch of minestrone and coordinated soups and desserts with the rest of my class. Thankfully, I had a great group of parent helpers show up to help. We finished clean up just in time for Ash Wednesday worship.
Thursday was hat day. I was glad for a bit calmer of a day, although it was still a long one.
Friday was my favorite day – word day. This was a day I brought with me from St. Mark’s. We chose a word (adjectives are best) and dressed up as it. This year, I was authentic so wore my authentic German dress. Want to see? Here I am at school after our Word Day Parade.
Of course, there were still piano lessons to teach, papers to grade, grocery shopping to do, a house to clean and a book to read (for book club) this week.
I’d like to think that the weekend will be quieter, but that seems to be far from the case.
Today, Saturday, I have to be at Musical Arts Festival all morning before heading to Book Club this afternoon. This evening, the Concordia RF Kapelle Choir is singing at the Seminary. I’ll bring three college boys home for the night, even as my husband is off at his basketball lock-in.
Sunday morning, we spring forward, which will be particularly challenging as I have to have the boys across town at St. Paul’s by 7:45 in the morning with their packed sack lunches. I’ll go to church at St. Paul’s before heading to Ascension to fix lunch for the Kindergarten Round-up. Sunday evening, we’ll head to my in-laws for dinner.
Whew! Some weeks are just busy. Life is busy. I’ve learned that by now. Through it all, I’m learning more and more how to pray without ceasing. That’s a post for a different time, though!
I hope your week was a good one…and not quite as busy as mine!
