As Life Continues to Change

Let’s chat for a bit, shall we, dear friends? I feel it’s time for another update and personal look into our life. It’s what so many of you say you enjoy about reading here, how I let you into our lives. Honestly? A part of me really misses the old style of blogging when it was so open and personal.

Now, about me and my family…

We are still settling into our new home. It’s going to be a process but sharing the house with my in-laws is working out just fine. We still have lots of boxes to unpack and I still need to finish updating our address at a couple places, but overall, we are settled in. It’s hard to believe we have been here almost 2 months already! Time is funny like that. Honestly, most of what isn’t done by now is going to wait until my in-laws finish building their home and move out in the Spring. The boxes will keep until then although I do hope that we can get some pictures on the way before then! Little goals, right?

Nathan is 3 and a half and our little singer. His current favorites are “Seize the Day” from Newsies (Anyone else grow up with Newsies like my sisters and I did?) and “A Mighty Fortress” (#LutheransGettingReadyForReformation). He still loves to read books and will happily sit to listen to books with me for as much time as we are able. We’ve started doing a bit of preschool things together although I still want to make our time together more regular. He does love doing projects! He has also ventured into the world of Legos (after all his Duplos) and loves to take his creations apart and build again.

Emma is 18 months already and loves to talk. “Come, Mama,” is something I hear many times a day. We are amazed at how clearly she talks. She wakes up happy, full of smiles and stories. She loves her big brother and is much more adventuresome than Nathan was at this age, to her Daddy’s chagrin. Emma is also quite the singer and knows many of the words to the songs that Nathan sings.

Nathan and Emma love playing together and it makes my heart happy to see them together. They are both excited, as are we, to add another baby to our family come March!

Yes, that’s right. We are expecting another baby, and yes, this baby is due in March, just like our other two! We thank God for this new blessing to our family.

Yes, I was pregnant this summer when we traveled and moved. It has been an exhausting first trimester and many afternoons have been spent napping while Nathan and Emma nap. I was able to see an ultrasound and watch the baby kick and stretch a couple weeks ago. It always makes me tear up to hear the baby’s heartbeat. I am 14 weeks now and feeling good. Tired, at times still, but good. It’s nice to get a bit energy back again! I feel much bigger (already) than I did my last two pregnancies but everyone tells me that is to be expected since my body has done this already.

If you’re curious, here’s how we shared the news about Emma and the news of my first pregnancy with Nathan.

Have I told you how much I appreciate everyone who shared their feedback in my quick blog survey last month? I had a lot of requests for more recipes and continuing the money saving tips. Overall, the biggest comment was to keep blogging! And I certainly plan to do so. I’m working at getting back in the swing of all my various part-time jobs (piano lessons, social media, blogging) and yet keeping my main focus on being a wife and mom. Some days the balance is easier to find than others. Isn’t that true for all of us? I did have a couple requests about what it really means to be a blogger so perhaps I’ll get around to putting that in words for everyone who is interested soon.

Andy is a month into the school year again. It’s nice to be closer to school so we see him for dinner more. He’s hard at work planning the annual 8th grade Washington DC trip again, in addition to all his teacher and athletic director responsibilities. A teacher’s life (especially a Lutheran school teacher’s one) is never dull!

Well, that’s us in a nutshell right now. The baby is our wonderful big news and we are so thankful for everyone who is sharing in our joy! How are things with you and your family?
