4 Layer Cream Cheese Dip

It’s the season when holiday parties and get togethers abound. Isn’t it fun? As my husband is a teacher (just as I was), our faculty parties often revolve around bringing an appetizer to share. This dip made with Cream Cheese has become one of our favorites. It’s quick to assemble and enjoyed by all. For that reason, this 4 layer cream cheese dip has become my go-to recipe whenever I need to make an appetizer for any party – at any time of year!

4 Layer Cream Cheese Dip - A quick and delicious appetizer, especially for parties!

The ingredients you need are simple. You only need four ingredients to make this tasty 4 layer dip! The main ingredient being 1 (8 oz) package of Cream Cheese.

You’ll also need one jar (4 oz) diced green chilis, 1/2 jar canned chili (without beans) and 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese. That rounds out your ingredients for this simple dip. Making the dip is just as simple as the ingredients needed.

First, spread your cream cheese in the bottom of an 8×8 pan. If difficult to spread, microwave block of cream cheese for a couple seconds to soften.

Open and drain any excess liquid from the jar of diced green chilis. Spread over cream cheese.

2nd layer of dip: green chilis

For your third layer, spread the canned chili over the green chilis. I’m not a fan of canned chili, but in this dip? It works! If your chili mixes with the green chilis, that’s okay. Just smooth it as best you can.

3rd layer: chili

Finally, top off the dip with your fourth and final layer of shredded cheese. Almost any cheese will work with this dip! I like to use cheddar or colby but a combination can work as well.

After that, your dip is almost ready! When you are ready to serve it, you have two options for heating. You can heat it in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes or until the dip is bubbly. Most times, I’m taking the dip along somewhere and opt for the quick microwave method when I’m at the party. Simply heat the cream cheese dip in the microwave for 2 minutes or until the cheese on top is melted. When it is, you’ll have a delicious creamy dip that is ready to serve.

I like to serve this layered dip with tortilla chips. Like I said, it’s dip that you can quickly assemble and that everyone is sure to enjoy. In fact, if you are going to a larger party, I recommend doubling this dip and making a 9×13 pan. To do so, just use 2 (8 oz) blocks of cream cheese, a 7 oz can of diced chilis, a full jar of canned chili and 2 cups (8 oz) of shredded cheese.

  2. I rarely make dips at home (I’m the only one that eats them) so I would so enjoy this 4 layer Philly Cream Cheese dip recipe at a party! Oh YUM! Plus, it can’t get any easier than this! {client}

    1. I’m sure you could, too, Kristin! 🙂 It really is simple – and so delicious! Like I said, I never bring home leftovers when I take this dip to parties. Of course, it’s good for a treat at home, too!
