How is your journey to thriving? Did you lay out your clothes last night? Good. So did I! Now, it's time to tackle another simple but effective task. Make a List. See? Simple. It's time to make a to-do list. I started doing this several months ago and it has helped me tremendously. You see, I constantly have hundreds of thoughts running through my head - much to my husband's amazement and chagrin. I often have days that are so busy, it is hard for me to remember what's next, much less all that I want to accomplish. My running to-do list solved that problem. There is no more … Read More...
31 Days to Joyfully Thrive: Lay Out Your Clothes
Today is a new day with a choice to do something that will help us thrive. So far, we've made a commitment to learn something and called a friend. Today's challenge is a simple yet practical one. Lay out your clothes the night before. Yes, I realize this is something our Moms did for us when we were four. Yes, I realize we're all older than that, yet the advice holds true. Apparently, there was a reason for this! When you lay out your clothes the night before, it is one less decision you have to make in the morning. One less decision means more time for you. You've already … Read More...
31 Days to Joyfully Thrive: Call a Friend
It's the second day of October and the second day of this series. I spent some time yesterday meeting some of the other participants, and reading some of those I already knew. What a wonderful way to meet new friends! Speaking of, that brings me to my second point in my Joyfully Thriving series. Today's task? Call a Friend. We have friends from our childhood, friends from school, friends from college, friends from work and yes, some of us, friends from online. Some of our friends are far away and some are near. Some friends, we have seen recently and for others, it has been years … Read More...
31 Days to Joyfully Thrive: Continue to Learn
Welcome to Day One of the 31 Days to Joyfully Thrive series! I introduced the series and the other fabulous hosting ladies here. I'm so excited to be joining this series! I learned so much from Jen last year, and I continue be inspired by Nester. I'm looking forward to meeting lots of new friends, by reading all the other blogs who are joining in this adventure. I'll be honest. I've never done anything like this before. I've been writing about frugal living (and doing so joyfully) for over a year now. Yet, I've never committed to writing a specific series for 31 days. What an … Read More...

Here are the ladies who are hosting this wonderful series. Jen - 31 Days to Balancing Both Beauty and a Budget Jessica – 31 Days of Memory Keeping Melissa – 31 Days to Inspired Holidays Sandy – 31 Days of Warm Connections Darcy - 31 … Read More...
After CHRISTmas Markdowns at 75%
The after CHRISTmas sales continue with higher markdowns! I have noticed that most stores are now at 75 percent off their CHRISTmas decorations or higher. The stores with sales at 75% are Meijer, Michaels, Walmart, and Target. Joann's and Hobby Lobby are advertising 80% or higher. Kohls was already marked down to 80% last week, so should be marked higher now. After CHRISTmas sales are always an adventure. The selection lessens as the sales continue, but the savings increase. It's a toss up. Sometimes I wait for a better bargain and sometimes I snatch up a deal! I added a mini … Read More...
