2020 Grocery Budget Totals

Published January 10, 2021 4 Comments

If you want an honest look at a grocery budget for an entire year for a family of 6, take a look at our frugal grocery budget.  2020 was a year for the books. Am I right? As much as I am a frugal shopper, 2020 threw my grocery budget through the ringer. First, there was the month early arrival of Caleb before I had finished stocking my pantry and freezer. Little did I know that would be the least of my worries! Ha. By the time I came home from the hospital and we brought Caleb home from the NICU, everything was shutting down. We did a big stock up trip or two - not worrying about prices. … Read More...

March & April Quarantine Grocery Shopping

Published May 09, 2020 Updated May 09, 2020 6 Comments

What a crazy past two months it has been! I went into labor a month early, and then things started quickly shutting down. Schools closed and we were under a stay at home order for almost 6 weeks. We are in phase 2 of opening things back up in Indiana which menas we can go out again! I haven't gone grocery shopping in over 2 months - since March 3! Andy's been doing the grocery shopping and we've been taking advantage of Walmart's grocery pick up. More on that below. I asked about this on Facebook and it seems that most of us had higher than normal grocery totals in March. With everyone … Read More...

January & February 2020 Shopping Totals

Published February 28, 2020 Leave a Comment

For as long as January seemed, February seems to have flown by! It's probably because the count down is officially on until baby arrives at the end of March, so time is speeding up. We've also dealt with a couple of minor viruses between all my kids so that kept us home at times and made the days pass in a bit of a blur. I continue to share most of my shopping trips as they happen on Instagram and Facebook. You can like the Joyfully Thriving Facebook page here to see those trips as they happen. This lets me answer questions about specific deals while they are still current - so you can grab … Read More...

Setting a New Grocery Budget in a New Year

Published January 13, 2020 Updated January 09, 2021 1 Comment

I do a grocery audit and set a new grocery budget every January. I'm a grocery geek in that I absolutely love crunching the numbers and seeing how low I can get our budget. I am also a grocery geek in that I actually enjoy grocery shopping and I love finding the best deals! I know many of you do too, because I get more comments on my grocery posts than any other ones I share. I think these posts are popular because we all want to save money on groceries we have to buy every week. Here's an example of one shopping trip for me - from Kroger trip on April 18 where I spent $50. I love … Read More...

September & October Grocery Shopping Totals

Published November 07, 2019 Updated November 07, 2019 1 Comment

September was a good month for grocery shopping. There were lots of good deals, plus Kroger doubled fuel points if you shopped on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I did almost all of my Kroger shopping on these days for that reason. After coupons and surveys, I managed to accumulate $0.80 off a gallon in fuel rewards! Andy and I both filled up at the same time to take full advantage of the full 35 gallons. He pulls on one side of the pump and I pull on the other, so we can pump gas until we've reached the limit. That little trick saved us $28 on gas just for that fill up! Here are a couple of … Read More...
