Published July 27, 2020 2 Comments

Uniform shopping doesn't have to be expensive. Learn how to get school uniforms for cheap with these simple and effective tips.  Last year, my son started Kindergarten at our Lutheran grade school. They have a school uniform policy which I greatly appreciate. However, as a frugal mom who was new to the uniform scene, I was determined to figure out how to buy school uniforms for cheap. I wanted quality but I also didn't want to pay full retail for our uniforms. It was a bit of trial and error last year as I had to figure out what brands and sizes fit my son the best, but this year? Uniform … Read More...

$1000 Savings Challenge

Published July 20, 2020 Leave a Comment

These past couple months have reminded me of the importance of savings. It is important to have money in savings - all the time. You may not have 20 savings accounts like my husband and I do, but you need to have at least one savings account. Having money in savings allows you to plan and prepare for future purposes and expenses and goals. I also believe everyone should have an emergency fund with 3 to 6 months of expenses. An emergency fund is that special savings account that gives you peace of mind since you always have access to some money when an unexpected emergency … Read More...

March & April Quarantine Grocery Shopping

Published May 09, 2020 Updated May 09, 2020 6 Comments

What a crazy past two months it has been! I went into labor a month early, and then things started quickly shutting down. Schools closed and we were under a stay at home order for almost 6 weeks. We are in phase 2 of opening things back up in Indiana which menas we can go out again! I haven't gone grocery shopping in over 2 months - since March 3! Andy's been doing the grocery shopping and we've been taking advantage of Walmart's grocery pick up. More on that below. I asked about this on Facebook and it seems that most of us had higher than normal grocery totals in March. With everyone … Read More...

How to Build a Stockpile Today

Published March 24, 2020 Updated January 18, 2021 2 Comments

I've written about the many benefits of having a stockpile before but recently? With this new COVID-19 pandemic? I have truly experienced the value of having a stockpile. If you don't have a stockpile? I am sure many of you are wishing you did - or that your stockpile was better stocked. So, let's think about how you can start building a stockpile today. When this COVID-19 virus started, it suddenly became hard to find certain items at the grocery store. Many people were complaining about the lack of toilet paper, when I didn't think twice about it because I knew I had several packages in … Read More...

Cheapest Diapers | Where to Buy the Cheapest Diapers

Published March 09, 2020 Updated May 09, 2020 2 Comments

We just had another baby! This is the 4th March baby we've had in the past 6 years. No, we didn't plan it that way but that seems to be what happened! Nathan was born in March 2014, followed by Emma in March 2016, followed by Lily in March 2018 and now Caleb in March 2020. Before Caleb arrived, I went into full nesting mode and stocked up on all the things we would need for the first couple of weeks. Little did I know how extra important it would be this time around since Caleb was born just days before everything started shutting down. I was so thankful I was already stocked up on diapers … Read More...

January & February 2020 Shopping Totals

Published February 28, 2020 Leave a Comment

For as long as January seemed, February seems to have flown by! It's probably because the count down is officially on until baby arrives at the end of March, so time is speeding up. We've also dealt with a couple of minor viruses between all my kids so that kept us home at times and made the days pass in a bit of a blur. I continue to share most of my shopping trips as they happen on Instagram and Facebook. You can like the Joyfully Thriving Facebook page here to see those trips as they happen. This lets me answer questions about specific deals while they are still current - so you can grab … Read More...
