As I've said before, there is no bad time for chocolate. I will eat chocolate for breakfast, lunch and dinner - or any time in between. Chocolate makes everything better. And when you can start your day with a chocolate chip coffee cake - why not? I like coffee cakes for breakfast, especially when I am hosting company because it is an easy breakfast option. You can easily make a coffee cake the night before and serve it for breakfast the next morning. It's a toss up if I like blueberry buckle or this chocolate chip coffee cake more. We got our first big snow of the year this weekend. Finally! For living in Northern Indiana, we have not had very snowy winters for the past several years. I love snow. I don't love driving on snow, but if I can stay home and enjoy the beauty of it all with my kids? That is when I absolutely love snow. Yesterday, Andy took Nathan and Emma sledding after church at a nearby park. They had so much fun and came home with rosy, chapped cheeks. We all went out with Lily in the backyard to see her experience snow for the first time. She wasn't quite as impressed with the snow after she tried … Read More...

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Fudge Bars
Every Epiphany (January 6), our family hosted an Open House for the entire congregation. Since my Dad was a pastor, it was a good way for our family to celebrate and share a special evening with our friends and fellow church members. For the week or so before our Open House, my family would spend lots of time baking. My mom, sisters and I spent time every day in the kitchen, baking a variety of special desserts for the evening. Dad was responsible for the candy cane cookies, and Joel helped with the buckeyes. The rest, the girls made and checked off our baking list. This post may contain … Read More...
