How was your week? We loved having Andy home for a four day weekend. Easter was simple and lovely. We went to 7:00 Son-Rise church on Easter and then enjoyed lunch with Andy’s parents and Grandma. Nathan had fun looking for Easter eggs and Emma liked shaking hers.
The weather was so beautiful that we managed an outside family picture in our Easter outfits after church. Nathan liked pressing the timer button on my camera, which is why this picture is my favorite, of him running back to press the button again! I hope your Easter was lovely, too.
While we were out as a family over the weekend, I had a couple quick purchases that I didn’t take pictures of. I picked up 2 packages of diapers at Meijer over the weekend, plus bananas and a head of romaine lettuce. I used a $2/1 Huggies Mperks coupon on the diapers and bought Meijer brand for the other diapers. I spent $14.25 on those couple things.
Then, the kids and I did our usual grocery shopping at Meijer for the week. They had a couple good “10 for $10 and Get the 11th Free” deals that I wanted to pick up.
The Meijer diapers were included in a promotion where if you buy $30, you got $10 off your next purchase. I compared prices to Luvs (which was also on promotion) and Meijer brand was cheaper. I then tried various combinations of bags and boxes to get the diapers cheapest. One big box for $25.99 and one bag for $5.99 took me just over the $30 and was the best deal in the larger sizes. Plus, I had a $3 Mperks rewards the $10 that came off. After that, I spent $21.01 on 168 diapers – or $0.12 a diaper, which is pretty near my $0.10 stock-up price, so I bought them.
Almost everything else I bought at Meijer was part of the promotion, where I basically figure everything was $0.90 (dividing my free item across the others). The mac and cheese was only $0.40 a box, thanks to a $1/2 printable coupon (no longer available). The Old El Paso products were all also $0.40, thanks to multiple prints of this $1/2 printable coupon.
Nathan was really excited that I bought 100 neon bendy straws for $0.90. It’s the little things, sometimes! Apples were 3lbs for $2.50, 2 lbs bananas were $1.05, and Dannon yogurt was $1.88 (cheaper than Aldi).
I paid for the diapers first so I could turn around and use the $10 coupon on the rest of my groceries. The total of everything at Meijer was $43.02.
Then, we headed down the road to Kroger for a quick shopping trip before a play date with friends. We needed to restock a couple dairy products and their prices are always so good!
The pineapple was $0.99, and the peppers were 2 for $0.99. I’m excited to start seeing more summer produce deals! I bought another carton of $1 rolls to make mini sliders with some ham that I have in the freezer.
I bought 3 large blocks of cheese and 1 large bag of cheese for $2.99 each. Whenever they run this sale, I stock up because $1.50 for 8 ounces is my stock up price. The large containers of sour cream and cream cheese were $1.89. Not quite as good as when the smaller containers are $1 but I needed some for recipes, and it was cheaper than at Meijer.
At Kroger, I spent $16.77 but also received $1 back from last week’s receipt error. Kroger has great customer service! So, $15.77 will come out of my budget this week.
This week, I spent $73.04. A good portion of that was on diapers, but Emma is set for awhile now so I won’t have to buy for her for a bit. This brings my April total to $207.18, which leaves me with $52 to spend for the last weeks of April.
