I recently stumbled across a new – and thin – budget book called The Budget Savvy Diva’s Guide to Slashing Your Grocery Bill by 50% or More by Sara Lundberg.
This book was a good introduction to a variety of frugal topics – menu planning, grocery shopping, eating healthy on a budget, coupons, and creating a stockpile.
My favorite chapter was actually the menu planning chapter, because it was a good reminder of why we menu plan to save money. Sara broke it down easily saying you can start by planning one day in advance, one week in advance or one month in advance. You pick what works for you. This is very true about so many aspects of living frugally.
I recommend this book for those of you just getting started in the frugal game who want to learn a little bit more. It’s a small book with just under 150 pages, so you can easily read this very quickly.
For those of you who are experienced with the coupon game, I didn’t read anything that struck me as brand new in this book. It was fine, but didn’t go into enough frugal detail for me. I’d borrow this book from the library (like I did), but I don’t feel there is enough unique information in this book to justify spending your money on it.
Still, if you’re looking for a quick frugal read on a Sunday afternoon, this book is a pleasant read.
