Hello! Welcome! My name is Kristen and I’m so glad you are here!
Who am I? I’m a wife, a sister, a daughter, and an Aunt. I’m a teacher, a friend, a reader, a pianist, a baker and a bargain seeker. Most importantly, I’m a baptized child of God. Why is all this important? This is who I am and why I write to share with you.
I am the eldest of four children, born to a Lutheran pastor and his teacher wife. While my family is spread across the United States now (3 siblings in 3 different states, plus 3 siblings-in-law in another 3 states), we are a close-knit family. I have wonderful memories of sitting around the kitchen table with my family, laughing and sharing stories. I am who I am, by God’s grace, because of my family.
I met my husband while in college – although we didn’t get married until 9 years later. I am thankful everyday for the blessing that Andy is in my life. We are still newlyweds, married in July of 2009. My husband and I are both Lutheran schoolteachers. It is our mission, our ministry and our joy.
Growing up in a church work family, I learned quickly the value of frugality. We didn’t have a lot of money but we never were lacking. We learned firsthand how God will always provide for His children. Besides, as my Grandpa likes to say, we are rich already – someday we’ll have money. I am thankful for that part of my heritage because I now get to demonstrate that creativity and frugality with our money. It is our desire to be faithful with the gifts we’ve been given.
I’ve always enjoyed finding a good bargain – and I love to share with others. My cousins and I used to share notes, and I frequently call my Mom and sister with my latest finds. This site is intended to share my discoveries with others.
It is my hope that this site will serve as an encouragement to you. It is written for all who can enjoy a good bargain – but particularly for those Lutheran church worker families. It is my desire to help you live frugally so you may continue focusing on serving our Lord and Savior.
