I’m a stay-at-home mom married to a Lutheran school teacher. We have two children under the age of two. I wouldn’t say we are poor (by any means) but our budget is definitely tight. We watch our pennies very carefully.

While we are covering all our expenses, I am always looking for ways to save more. We’ve paused our retirement contributions (for now) so I can stay home with our children. It’s taking us longer to meet our saving goals. For example, our list of house projects continues to grow as we save for them, and we want to pay down our mortgage quicker than planned.

We are working to save more to meet these goals which is a challenge when every penny in our budget is already allocated somewhere. That’s the reason I’ve learned to find other ways to save. For example, I’ve started using a coupon app (this is the best one, as far as I’m concerned) and tucking that money aside into savings.

I’d love to hear how you save more on your already tight budget, too!
