The Best Coupon App to Use

I’m making a bold and honest claim today. We all want to save money on our groceries so I’m want to tell you about the best coupon app to use. This one coupon app will save you the most money in the shortest amount of time. Are you ready?

I’ve shared in the past about coupon apps that you can use without a smart phone. Since I moved into the world of smart phone users, I reevaluated a lot of coupon apps. I discovered that all of them can earn you something but there was one coupon app that was consistently saving and earning me money every week.

Which coupon app is it, you ask? Ibotta.

Let me tell you why I have fallen in love with Ibotta and why it is the main coupon app I now use.

Ibotta is simple. It’s easy to use and easy to earn. I can redeem offers in only a minute or two after each shopping trip. Plus, I can find rebates every week on Ibotta for items I’m already buying like milk, cheese, eggs, and produce, thanks to their any brand rebates. I love those!

How Ibotta Works

Ibotta is a free coupon app that earns you cash back on items you are already purchasing. The rebates can be anywhere from $0.25 to $5, depending on the item and the store. It available for use at almost 200 stores including Meijer, Kroger, Target, Walmart, Costco, CVS, Walgreens and so many more. When you redeem $20 worth in rebates, you can cash out your account via Paypal or a gift card.

A Step by Step Guide to Ibotta

  1. Download the Ibotta coupon app.
  2. Go grocery shopping as normal.
  3. When you get home, open Ibotta and select the store where you shopped.
  4. Look through the rebates and unlock any that you purchased. To unlock a rebate, you’ll answer a quick question or read a fact. Occasionally, you watch a 15 second video clip.
  5. Verify your purchases. This is either selecting an item or scanning a barcode.
  6. Take a photo of your receipt with your phone camera and upload it to Ibotta.
  7. Receive the money in your account within 24 hours.
  8. Repeat every time you shop!

How to Maximize Ibotta

Combine sales and coupons with the Ibotta rebates. There are no stipulations! I recently bought a free container of McCormick’s spice blend at Kroger (thanks to a digital coupon) and then earned $0.50 from Ibotta. That means, not only was the product free but I was paid to purchase it!

Check your receipt after every shopping trip. After I get home and unload my groceries, I take a minute to scan through the Ibotta rebates. With over 100 rebates each week, there is almost always something I’ve already bought on the list – sometimes several things!

Hold onto your receipts. Your receipts can be redeemed for a full week after you shop. Sometimes new offers appear, so feel free to check for a rebate later in the week, if you want! I often forget to do this, but last week, I earned an extra $0.50 when milk appeared as a rebate later on in the week.

Invite friends to use Ibotta with you. It’s really so easy, you’ll want to spread the news! When you refer friends, you get $5 for every friend who joins Ibotta and your friend earns $10 when they redeem their first rebate within 2 weeks.

More Coupon Apps

If you are really into coupon apps, there are many more you can use. I still think Ibotta is the best coupon app but here are a couple others I use on occasion (ranked in order of preference).

Fetch finds the offers after you take a picture of your receipt. So easy to do! After Ibotta, this is my next favorite app.

Mobisave deposits earnings within hours into your Paypal account.

Shopmium isn’t available for use at all grocery stores, but you can use the code KGHYMUYQ for a free Lindt chocolate bar, if you want to give it a try!

Do you use Ibotta – or any other coupon apps? On which items will you be watching for rebates?

  1. Ibotta is also ONE of my favorites!! My other is Savings Star. If you aren’t using it you should try it out also!! I love that like you said you get rebates for items you are already buying. Savings Star doesn’t do the any brand but it is a good place to get good rebates on deodorant, AXE, and other non food items. You only have to have $5 and it pays out to your bank account or Paypal. This year alone I have made over $300 between these two apps!

    1. Wow! I’m impressed, Rebecca! You are a coupon app super-star! I’m impressed! I do use Savings Star but I’m apparently not as good as you! 🙂 Keep it up!

  2. A local blog does a weekly publication for each of the grocery chains, listing the sales as well as matching them up with any coupons and offers. Ibotta is one of the few apps that they actually include in their matchups. We haven’t used it yet but it’s getting harder not to. Seeing your testimony makes it even more alluring. Thanks!

    1. I didn’t start using coupon apps for a log time either, but Ibotta has proved to be well worth my time! If – when – you give it a try, you’ll have to let me know what you think! 🙂
