5 Ingredient Frozen Creamsicle Pie

When I have company over, I like to have a nice dessert prepared. It’s even nicer when I have that dessert waiting in the freezer before the company is even invited over! That’s where this easy frozen creamsicle pie recipe comes in.

I discovered this frozen pie recipe in my Taste of Home (1999) cookbook years ago. It requires only a couple of ingredients and you know how I love easy 5 ingredient recipes! (For proof, take a look at these 85 easy 5 ingredient dessert recipes!)

This frozen pie recipe also results in a dessert that reminded me of that childhood treat of push-ups. Do you remember those? The orange ones were my favorite. When Mom treated us to a box of push-up creamsicle pops from the Schwan Man, my siblings and I were always so excited! This grown up dessert tastes just like our childhood favorite.

You can customize this frozen orange creamsicle pie quite simply by swapping out the flavor of sherbet. Orange not your favorite? Try it with raspberry! Lime would make a tasty treat as well. The other ingredients stay the same. Just change the sherbet flavor to fit your taste preference.

Ingredients:

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 jar (7 ounces) marshmallow creme
2 cups sherbet, any flavor but I recommend orange
1 container (8 ounces) Cool Whip
1 graham cracker crust (9 or 10 inches)

Directions:

In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and marshmallow creme until smooth.

Add in your favorite flavor of sherbet. I used orange this time, but I think raspberry or lime would be delicious, too. Fold in Cool Whip.

Pour the topping into your crust and freeze until firm. If you have extra topping (as I did), you can freeze it in a separate container to enjoy it at another time. When you are ready to serve your pie, remove from the freezer just before serving.

Additional Notes:

Make sure your cream cheese is softened so there are not lumps throughout the pie. The softer the cream cheese, the smoother your pie filling will be.

This creamsicle pie recipe makes a lot of extra filling! Last time, I doubled the filling – and filled three graham cracker crusts with some topping leftover. Plan accordingly and use the extra filling to make extra pies (like I did) or freeze it separately for a treat another time. Without the crust, this tasty filling really does remind me exactly of a creamsicle! You could use the filling in a popsicle mold, too, for a homemade creamsicle!

This frozen pie will thaw quickly, especially on a hot summer day. It makes a perfect cooling off treat as long as you don’t leave it out of the freezer too long before serving!

It is an easy recipe to double (or triple) so can enjoy one pie now and save another for another evening. I love easy recipes that work for more than one occasion!

  1. This was served at a potluck I went to. Everyone raved about it. Really brought me back to my childhood. Many of us got the recipe from the girl who brought it. Making it for an event this week.

  2. Made it today. Awesome flavor. I added some orange zest to the mixture to intensify the flavor. Easy to make. I agree any flavor sherbet would be great. Thinking pineapple in the really hot summer days!
