This week, I shopped only at Meijer. I picked up grapes for preschool and the following for us.
I’m trying to stock up more on basics but there are times when my husband gets in late at night and wants a quick meal. Hence, the pizza and chicken fingers. These Pilgrim ones are the best ones we’ve tasted, with fresh chicken and nice breading. When these go on sale, I buy them as a treat.
The Red Baron pizzas were on sale and I used two $1/2 coupons, so I got the pizzas for $1.99 each. Since it’s much cheaper than a drive through, I do try to keep pizzas on hand – especially when we have hungry junior high boys over.
There a Nabisco deal going on this week, where you “Buy 8, Get $8 off.” That put the crackers at $1.50 a box. Since I had two coupons for B2G1, that took the price of the crackers down to a $1 a box. Since they are good until March, I am set for entertaining for awhile! The Oreos were $1.98 as part of the deal, and the Crystal Light $1, to round out my 8 items.
I was able to get the Smart Balance milk for $1 a carton, thanks to a sale and coupon. I tried this once with one of the $1.50/1 coupons that seem to regularly appear in the paper. It tastes good and helps make my hot chocolate a little bit healthier.
At Meijer, I spent $24.14. I’m pleased with that. It brings my monthly total to $137.16. I’m still under budget but that leaves me with only $22.84 to spend in the last 10 days of September. Sigh. A challenge it is!
