Beauty and Outward Adornment

We live in a world that places a lot of importance on how we look. Television, magazines, advertisements all bombard us with these (wrong) messages.

God looks deeper than that. God looks at the heart. And if God does, shouldn’t we?

I love this verse from 1 Peter because it is a powerful reminder to us women that while we can look nice on the outside, our true beauty comes from inside. Our true beauty is found in an obedient and faithful heart.

I’m striving to remember this – especially on those days when I look so frazzled from keeping up all the preschoolers in my class.

God looks at my heart. God cherishes my heart. God wants my heart to reflect the beauty of Him.

I’m praying for the wisdom to live my heart.

  1. Peacocks are such pretty birds. The inward look is so much more important than the outside. That’s something I need to be reminded of sometimes.

  2. I echo your prayer!! This also brings to mind Psalm 51:10: “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me”! Such a beautiful photo and encouraging word!! Blessings to you!!
