Tomorrow, I leave for two weeks in Okinawa, Japan.
Thanks to a very thoughtful Christmas gift from my husband, and a travel fund begun by my sister and brother-in-law, I am going to get a new stamp in my passport!
My sister, brother-in-law, two nieces and baby-due-any-day, are currently stationed in Okinawa, and I, my brother, and my other sister are going to visit them. Yes, you read that correctly. All four of the Barz siblings will be together again – in Japan!
Late tonight, my dear husband is driving me to the Chicago airport so I can catch my first flight early in the morning. He will be catching a flight at the same time, as we just bought a new-to-us used Tahoe in Texas. As I fly one way, he’ll fly the other to pick up our new car. Ah, the adventures we live!
I have a 2 hour flight to Newark, a 13 hour flight to Tokyo, and another 2 hours to Okinawa. It’s a lot of flying during which I plan to do a lot of reading on my Kindle…and a bit of sleeping, too! I leave Friday morning and arrive Saturday evening. Isn’t traveling across the International Date Line fun?
This week, I have been busy at school and home getting things ready for my trip. I’ve been busy on my website, too, and I hope you’ll enjoy all I have scheduled. Now that I’ve finished all I have to do, I’m looking forward to all I want to do – exploring Okinawa and savoring time with my family.
I’ll keep you posted and take lots of pictures to share when I return! Now, I need to finish packing my suitcase, and checking off last minute things on my to-do list…
