Alright. I know this may seem a little odd to write an entire post about oatmeal so let me explain!
As I write this, it’s snowing. Snow is cold. Cold makes me think of hot breakfast. What better hot breakfast than oatmeal? That reminds me that I have a big canister of oats sitting in my pantry. This sends me on a quest for oatmeal recipes. Consider this the reasoning for “If You Give Kristen Some Oatmeal…”
My Mom makes a delicious baked oatmeal. I really should get her recipe. Will you email it to me, Mom? This baked oatmeal recipe from Our Best Bites has craisins in it and I like that twist.
Of course, I could make my own instant oatmeal packets like Life as Mom. This is a simple, frugal, healthy, practical, convienent idea. Do I really need to add more adjectives to convince you? These would make these cold winter mornings that much simpler.
I also like her recipe for cranberry orange granola. When a recipe combines two of my favorite flavors like this one does, it moves to the top of my list.
My other favorite oatmeal treat is granola bars. I’ve never tried making my own, but after discovering these next two recipes, I might have to give it a go.
Back to the Cutting Board shared her recipe for no bake, chewy granola bars. It was the promise that these taste just like the Quaker store bought kind that sold me!
Andrea of Simple Organized Living has a homemade granola bar recipe that I’ve been meaning to try as well. Her selling point is that this recipe calls for everyday ingredients. I always like that!
There you have it. Those are all my oatmeal thoughts…for now. I think my Saturday morning is going to be filled with oatmeal baking!
