It’s my birthday today. I’m officially 29 years old today. I’m planning on celebrating by enjoying an outing to a local winery with friends and an evening out (and then in) with my husband. Simple. Lovely. Perfect.
Since it is my birthday, I decided to share a bit more about me. Awhile ago, I wrote a list of 25 things about me. I enjoyed writing it and I hope you enjoyed reading it! In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I decided to continue this list. Many blogs have a list of 100 things about them so I’m slowly working up to that. If you missed my first twenty-five, you can read them here. My next twenty-five begin now.
Once again, here’s me!
- I wear contacts but my eyes really are this blue.
- My middle name is Marie – same as my mother and my grandmother.
- I have lived in six states – Missouri, Michigan, Texas, Nebraska (college, which I count for the time away), Ohio and Indiana.
- I don’t like riding roller coasters.
- While in high school, I played the role of Mrs. MacAffee in “Bye, Bye, Birdie.”
- I love the smell – and the taste – of homemade bread, fresh from the oven.
- I wear high heels to teach. I always have. I click-clack when I go down the hall and everyone knows when I’m coming!
- I have never had a broken bone.
- I have passed out a couple times.
- I’ve never taken a sick day while teaching. I credit it to the immunity I built while teaching preschool!
- I am intrigued by the life of the Amish. Living in Grabill, I have a dream of becoming friends with an young Amish lady around my age. I imagine us meeting at the park, watching our children play, and discussing the each other’s lives. There is so much that I’d like to learn about the Amish!
- I taught my hearing Kindergarteners ASL and found that it improved their literacy skills. I want to teach my children ASL.
- I can eat with chopsticks.
- I have attended Lutheran schools all my life.
- I was born in Saint Louis (home of one Lutheran Seminary) and live in Fort Wayne (home of the other Lutheran Seminary).
- My (current) favorite singer is Michael Buble.
- I like to swing dance.
- My nose scrunches up when I laugh. It always has and always will, but it doesn’t stop me from laughing!
- I like to write and to receive letters. Words of affirmation is clearly one of my love languages.
- I teach piano lessons. Even though I now have all the songs and accompaniments memorized, beginning lessons are still my favorite. I love the excitement that comes when my students first master a new song.
- I close my eyes during scary movie previews. I’ll never see a scary movie because the previews are already too scary for me!
- I worked at a Thai restaurant in high school. I was the only white girl working there and it always made me laugh when customers asked if I was Thai.
- I have been on two mission trips to Mexico.
- I attended the 1998 National Youth Gathering, “Called to Be.”
- I believe everyone should go on a mission trip and attend a NYG. Both are great faith building experiences – in completely different ways.
There you have it! 25 more things about yours truly. Did you learn something new this time around?

Happy Birthday Kristen!! Good to learn more about you:)
