Purex Crystals Review and Giveaway

Note: This giveaway is now closed.

This weekend, I did laundry. Nothing unusual there! I do two full loads a week, generally on Saturday, so there is nothing out of the normal here. The different part of this routine came when I tried a new product as part of my laundry routine. I used Purex Complete Crystals Fabric Softener.

It’s a new product – that actually is little crystals! It is 92% natural not oil-based like other liquid fabric softeners. From my research, I learned that typical fabric softeners coat our fabrics in oil. Purex Complete Crystals work by penetrating the fabric and infusing fibers with freshness that lasts.

From my research, I learned that traditional liquid oil-based softeners can interfere with the absorbency of fabrics, like towels. Once I learned that, I was quite interested in trying a different fabric softener.

Crystal Complete Crystals were simple to use. How simple? Check out this handy chart of directions.

The crystals smelled delightful! I simply poured them into the washer with my detergent before adding my full load of laundry. It was nice not to have to remember to grab a dryer sheet (my fabric softener of choice) before transferring my clothes to the dryer. When I took the clothes out of the dryer, I immediately smelled them. The scent was still lingering there – not overpowering but perfectly subtle.

I was very impressed by Purex Complete Crystals! Quite simply – they are easy to use and effective. I would highly recommend them! You can read more and get a coupon for Purex Complete Crystals at the Purex website.

  1. Hi, Kristen! We do about 5 loads of laundry a week. That sure is different than when everyone was at home! (Makes me a little sad!)

  2. Bethany says:

Hey Kristen, we normally do about 2 loads also a week.

  3. Katie Dinkel says:

    I usually do 3-4 loads a week! Ick! :)

  4. Hi Kristen, I do approximately 2 a week.

  5. We do about 4 loads of laundry a week. I love your blog!

  6. The Alligers says:

Two full loads a week!? We do that every day.

    • I’m sure I’ll catch up with that when we have active children as you do! :-) Thanks for taking the time to stop by and enter my giveaway!

  7. Hi Kristen – I cannot even count how many loads of laundry I do a week…during Marching Band season I did 4 loads of Guard Costumes every Sunday! Anxious to try a new fabric softener…do not like putting all that gunk on my clothes (especially sheets and towels) but they do need something..

    • Wow, Maureen! What a devoted band mom to wash all those color guard costumes! I agree with you about the fabric softener. Clothes do need something. It’s nice to find a new fabric softener that is more natural. Thanks for stopping by my site!

  8. Hmmm. There’s only 2 of us left at home (kids moved out or away at college)but I still do at least 5 loads-white, dark, colors, towels, & sheets. I TOLD my husband that I’m not putting TOO much in at once! (compared to everyone else, at least) He thinks I overload. Yes, I will try Purex. I use dryer sheets and seems they’re getting more and more expensive. (like everythng else, I suppose)

    • Now that my mother-in-law and my mother have reminded me of how they separate laundry, I am feeling that I should separate my loads more. :-) I will use almost any fabric softeners that are a bargain. Soon, I will try your vinegar trick!

  9. We do a load almost every day and then more on the weekends. So I am thinking about 8-9 loads a week! Laundry is not one of my favorite things. Jerry is much better at it than I am!

    • Laundry does accumulate so quickly. You are smart, Anna, to stay on top of it as you do. I’m glad that you have a husband who pitches in to help!

  10. Not as many as I used to do. I think I would do 4 in a normal week. I still believe in doing a whites, colored, dark, and towel load.

    • Really? You do less laundry now that your four children are gone? Interesting! I should emulate my Mother’s example and separate all my loads! :-)

  11. i do about 4 loads a week unless my son has accidents -then i do the bed sheets that day.

  12. We do about 4-5 loads a week.
Love your blog Kristen and I am looking forward to trying these crystals!!!!

  13. I do about 6-7 loads per week in my new washer/dryer set… it was more with my old one. Oh, sometimes I have more loads of delicates/sweaters too. I usually use dryer sheets, but this looks like an interesting thing to try. Do you know if they have unscented/dye free for sensitive skin?

    • Oh, a new washer and dryer? How exciting! :-) At this point in time, I’m not sure that they have sensitive skin crystals but Purex does have a natural detergent. Since the crystals are 92% natural, I wonder if that would make a difference already? You can view the full list of ingredients at the Purex Complete Crystals website.

  14. I do about four loads a week. I saw the commercial for these…looks interesting.

    • They are interesting! I didn’t quite believe they would work until I tried them. Thanks for stopping by my site! I trust you are enjoying newly-wed life with your wonderful husband! :-)

  15. Elizabeth says:

I’m not sure if your contest has ended but I just happened to stumble across your blog regarding the Purex Crytals. I’m planning on buying some because I have a couple of coupons, but wanted to find out if it’s worth spending money on. I do about 7-9 loads of laundry in a weekend, not including sheets/comforters. That usually bumps me up to 12 loads.

    • Sadly, this giveaway is over! Check back in a couple weeks though, as I am planning on hosting another giveway of Purex laundry detergent. I was impressed by the Crystals and yes, they do work! I was most impressed by the fact that they are 92% natural with minimal oils. My clothes do feel fresher for using them. You keep busy with your laundry. Thanks for taking time to stop by my site!

  16. There are only 2 of us but, I still do tons of laundry…now that it is getting nicer outside my hubby is into the garden with mud and grass stains all over everything. That means more showers and more towels to be washed!
